Colt Case Ingersoll Garden Tractors

Well Friday was a pretty bad weather day around here. High winds all day that drove wild fires, then severe storms and multiple tornadoes through the evening. There is some heavy damage to our south and to the east but we were very lucky here. We had a bit of wind damage but nothing major.

I decided to get the Super H and old John Deere wagon out to clean up the tree limbs and sticks. Tires aired up, oil checked, and fittings greased, ready to go. Glad I had son helping me made everything go much quicker. Look like everything that fell was mostly dead stuff the wind broke out. After we cleaned that up it was time to climb up on the roof and put the cap back on the chimney. Luckily it didn’t get torn up. When it came off and hit the roof the house shook! We got it back in place and I bolted it back down.

The only other damage we found was one shingle blown off the shop roof. We were able to fix that with no trouble.

I’m so glad we didn’t have any other damage, but I feel really bad for the folks around us lots of fire damage and tornado damage.

A lot of localized flooding around our county . Nothing major , or unexpected . Some minor wind damage . Most of the damage we see right now is from the snow loads on structures . I too feel for the ones down south . Fire, floods , dust storms , tornatos , pestilence on and on . It is almost like the wrath of god is being brought down on the for some reason .

With the amount of snow you guys got I would expect you’ll have some flood concerns for awhile yet. I know it happens but I just can’t imagine getting so much snow that I worry about the roof collapsing.

I really can’t complain too much about our weather I guess. We usually have it pretty good for most of the year. Just a terrifying day here or there sprinkled in for some excitement!

I’m sitting here thinking back and realizing I’ve actually been through several tornados over the years. Cleaned up a lot of downed trees and a barn or two! I remember one that came through at the home place. It took the center beam out of my friends shed and stuck in the ground like a javelin a couple hundred yards out in the field. Thank god we’ve never had a direct hit! Tornados are kind of like hail storms, there spotty. One will hit and 1/8 mile away nothing.

Well this is one of those days where one thing leads to another to another……

My picked up one blueberry plant and one raspberry.
Never tried to grow them before but I figured I better get them in the ground.
I want to plant them behind the house at the end of that area I cleared but I still had an old wood pile there so I cleaned that up first. And then I thought I really needed to get rid of some more of this dang honeysuckle so turned around the 648 and went to digging. And then I thought some of this little stuff I should mow off.
I really didn’t feel like wrestling with the 3 point mower so I went and grabbed the old pull behind out of the row. Haven’t used this in quite awhile. Tires are flat, gear box needed some oil, but it still works fine.
And then I thought since I already have the 648 out I might as well scoop up my little compost pile and throw it on the garden.
So after all that was done I finally stuck the berries in the ground. Seems like a long way to go for a couple of little bitty plants, at least it was some good seat time!

The neighbors up the road decided to sell their farm and had a big auction. I was really excited to go, they had a lot of rusty gold I hoped to bring home. I didn’t win any of it!
People were bidding way over what I was willing to go. That’s how auctions go I guess. I’m glad the neighbors got good money, just hoped I’d get a deal or too.

I thought I had wasted the day but then a fella I had been talking to came up and said he had bought a bunch of stuff out of one of the barns. He only wanted a couple of things and said I could take whatever I wanted from what was left.

I found this old iron tripod and grabbed it. Not sure what I’ll do with it but I thought it was a neat old piece. I’m thinking it was used over a fire to hang a pot from but I could be wrong. Any of you have an idea?

There was also a pile of lumber I grabbed. Here’s some of it. I desperately need a new floor on my trailer and I figured this would work. The old decking is either missing or completely rotten. The trailer is useless like this. It didn’t take much to strip it off! Then I spent some time playing full size Tetris to figure out how I wanted to place the boards since they are about half the length of the trailer. It took a little over a day to get it all together and now I have a usable trailer again. Not the type of wood I would prefer, and not the dimension I would pick, but for the price of throwing it in the truck I’ll take it. If it last a couple of years I’d say it was worth the trouble.

So I suppose I got a good deal at the auction after all!
