The gas tank has had quite a bit longer that the 96 hours the directions say it needs to cure.
I wanted to bring the truck up to the shop to work on so i set up a temp tank to run it. Of course it’s perfectly safe and not sketchy at all! I got the sending unit back in the tank and mounted it back in the truck with little trouble. Here the old fuel filter. No wonder it wouldn’t run. After I got everything back together I went for a test drive and now the fuel pump seemed to not be drawing fuel. I was worried maybe I ruined it. I got back to shop and decided to blow out all the lines. I put in the last filter I had and tried again. Now I runs fine. Went for another short drive with no issues so I’m not really sure what that was all about. I’ll have to do some more driving with before I’ll say it good to go, but seems to be on the right track.

I pulled the spilled bit of por-15 from the bottom of the rust bucket it dripped into. This was all loose rust and dirt. It made a solid chunk. Even the loose stuff on top is now stuck solid. Pretty impressive. That tank should be rust protected now.

After having to replace the fuel pump on the f750, it was extremely unhappy at first drawing fuel. I don't know why, but once it managed to pull it from the tank, it has behaved fine since. I'm guessing it was just a matter of overcoming the amount of fuel line, and creating enough vacuum. Old soft sections of fuel line likely don't help.

Glad the cleaned up tank is working. Just another thing to check off the list that you shouldn't have to think about again!
