Maybe ! Could change before then, as we all know.
This Thursday 10-15 cm, Friday 20-25 cm and Saturday 1-3 cm and 90 kilometre winds. So we’ll see by Wednesday evening what they are saying then.

Wow that sounds just like us in Ontario Noel. A warm up tomorrow then a pile of snow over a few days with similar amounts. We'll see how it pans out but they're saying even bigger than 2 weeks ago.

So, snow up to 30cm, ice pellets and rain. Winds not as high now. Still could change some yet, but we’re getting some thing.

Potential for the same thing here . Getting a little rain right now and + 1 C . Yesterday a number of east west roads around here were closed do to drifting and ice build up from the winds .

Not sure how you guys in Northern States and Canada deal with all the Snow. Snow might not be that bad if it was without the ice, and bitter cold. We in Oklahoma think this is bad.

Not much need for a snow blower in Oklahoma. But I would really like to have a cab but it would have to be heated and also have an air conditioner for summer. :)) Blade works great for snow or dirt!

Gets pretty hot around here!

So. No drift cutters on this thrower. So some of the banks I back into and use the rear fenders as drift cutters. Hehe. Holy cats and Jumpins, a lot of snow and still snowing a bit. Had some of the banks at the road fall in on top of me and the tractor while I was driving ahead and throwing. So at least open now in Case of an emergency.

So was wondering how long I could go on the fuel tank. I’m not sure what it holds. But after 1.4 hours of throwing snow it used 4.3 litres about per hour. So that give me an idea of run time on the tank. Should be able to do that work for two hours with out worry of running out of fuel.

Looks like fun Noel. I like the picture of your Case parked in the snow bank by the road. It really shows you what these tractors are capable of. Might be time to play with the Ford and its it's two stage to throw the snow a little higher on the snow banks.

Noel - As far as I know the fuel tank in my 4016 is 3 gallons (11.34 liters). I'm not sure what size fuel tank the Case models had but I think it should be similar in size. Your manual should list the size.

During heavy mowing with my hydravac my 16HP Vanguard can burn through about a gallon per hour. I'd say I burned through a gallon or so in the past two snow storms. Maybe am hour of blowing total?

Sounds about right MattA. I measured the tank with a dip stick and it looked like it was below the half mark or so. I put in what I figured to be 6 litres.

So can’t leave little brother in the garage and not have a go at it. So took the Case 224 out, same thrower as the Case 446. Well it’s a very capable tractor also. A little less power, throwing distance and traction than the 446, but very capable. My change of the 5” thrower drive pulley to a 7” made the world of difference in how the thrower worked. Was useless with the 5” pulley.

And it’s still snowing some.

I like the chute on your Ford! My neighbor has one and it really throws the snow. It's a two stage and most of the time the rpm sounds don't sound that high. He was cleaning out my next-door neighbor's driveway when I was bringing in firewood for my shop wood furnace. He threw it over his fence threw some trees and all over me. I hollered at him, but he didn't hear me! I called him on the phone later and expressed my displeasure.

My wife convinced me to watch the Canada vs US women's hockey game that started at 11:00 last night. It was 40 degrees F and raining hard then. Phone woke me up at 7 about parking lot icing so hoped out of bed and hit the road. Some minor road flooding due to ice jams. Parking lot was 90% ice free with good sand salt mix left behind from weeks of winter maintenance. The foot of ground cover snow that has been here for weeks is almost gone.

Still fairly windy and the temperature dropped about 9C in less than two hours. Now freezing and light snow coming down, thankfully. Lost about 1/2 or less of my driveway base down to pavement and ice. I had about 3 to 4,inches of base at one point. But it good in a way. Less to melt at spring time. Frost will come out sooner and dry up quicker. I’ve seen some years frost heave is so bad I’d have to take my outside man door off because I couldn’t open it for the heave. I’ve seen 4 to 6 inches of heave some years. That part of the heave is out from the garage about two feet, gets less closer to the garage. Every year, right at the end of January, first of February that week or so it starts.

There’s a ramble on for today, but the days not over yet. Hehe.

All but main roads was skating rinks with a dust of snow to hide the ice . :cuss: Fell a couple of time going back and forth to the birds . Ya, it’s getting on the nerves all right as times goes along. Then it gets worst in March and April and maybe May, when your thinking spring. I just accept it in November thru to end of February. Then it starts getting on me nerves. Hehe. And the older I get, seems like the worse it gets, each year. :45:
Some snow last nite just to make things white. And some small amounts coming Friday and Sunday.
I use rock dust to put down on the ice so’s we don’t fall down. Some people call it pea gravel, I think. Great stuff to make a driveway out of.

There now, that’s my morning ramble.

It's supposed to start snowing tonight and continue through tomorrow. They are predicting possible eight to twelve inches. I've made another change to my caster chute, and it will give me a chance to try it out. I still need to mount my linear actuator for the deflector. I side mounted it like I see some have done but using it the deflector would bind up. I'm thinking I would have better luck with it mounted in the center. A project for another day since I've been concentrating on the 444 Winter project.

So the 5” of snow we got yesterday is now 3” of slush. Just great. March weather ! I don’t like it !
Now, because of the price of fuel and the fact that the snow might melt away within the next few days, might! Or it might freeze. So I don’t know what to do. Try and move it or leave it. Once I get out later I’ll see.

Monday ramble.

Propane57 wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 4:52 am So the 5” of snow we got yesterday is now 3” of slush. Just great. March weather ! I don’t like it !
Now, because of the price of fuel and the fact that the snow might melt away within the next few days, might! Or it might freeze. So I don’t know what to do. Try and move it or leave it. Once I get out later I’ll see.

Monday ramble.

As I reed this the wet snow is starting to fall here , soon to be slush . It must me reincarnated snow from the north west US area ,

So got the most of it done. Just have to do around the house and propane tank. Threw a lot better than I was expecting. And never plugged up, even at the end of the driveway that the Plow pushes in.
Hope that’s it. But St Patrick’s Days yet, to get thru.

Another disappointing winter here. I spent more time converting my tractor for snow duty than I did using it. I still have 1/3 of a tank of gas which I filled before winter. We did get one decent storm with a good 15" of snow and some decent drifts. Think we had 3 decent storms this winter. Oh well... it was 60F today.

Have a couple of days of rain on and off here . After that it will probably snow because I am going to pull the blower of Frankie . Well at least if it does I can try out the new caster build in some fresh stuff.

Well hopefully that’s it for snow this spring. I was stuck quite a few times. But got the job done. Wet and heavy. Once you spin, that’s it. Just like ice. Thrower worked good. Never plugged up, even at the road where the Plow pushed snow in. Worked good, other than having to throw the snow many times to get some of it into the woods. You can see in the pictures the snow throwen to the right of the tractor. One spot I can’t do because of a slight hill beside the garage. Keeps sliding toward garage. And if I get in to far I’d never be able to back out. May take out something else to do that.

Those are nice pictures! I'm glad the tractor worked well! feel like I didn't get enough tractor time this winter, throwing snow, but on the other hand I'm also looking forward to Spring.

Thanks Eugen. Ya it’s time for warm weather tractor stuff.
So the side of the garage that I can’t do with the 446 because of sliding, got done by the 224. It had no trouble going in and out of there. No sliding.
224 had not been going in about 2 months or so. Worked great. Only thing with it is it takes a lot of winding to get it going. So have to prime it. If you run it every other day it’s ok. But leave it for a couple of weeks it won’t start with out priming. Fuel in carb bowl must evaporate. Works great once going. :D

Same problem with my 224, on which the blower is :cuss: I kicked it and still didn't start. Got me upset, but no time to deal with it, so just cleared the snow with the walk behind :snail: :whip:

Hehe. I said to him. That wont be gone until next winter when the snow starts again.
He said, hopefully I can cut the grass just once this summer. Hehe.

Lazy fixis to put a electric fuel pump on it. Turn the key to on and listen to the pump, when it stops turn the key to start :creeper: This has worked for me and others :drink:

This 224 has a 1/8 hole drilled into the outer air cleaner cover, beside the wing nut. Not very noticeable, but there. I wondered about that when I first got the tractor. My thinking is, he was having the same trouble, and this was a quick way of giving a prime.
So I do similar, quick squirt of brake clean and away she goes.
Not a perfect way to do it. But it works.

Noel that is a great idea, that I'm going to try. My 644 lbh after setting a while has to crank a bit to get some gas to the carb and start. That is a perfect solution. Thanks :gift:
