I was thinking about an oil jug too. Probably way safer than using

's large measuring cup.
Now to find a large area to line them up.

So was just thinking about how long it would take to cut an acre of grass. With what ever size deck. Then realized that the speed of the tractor would have to be included. So how fast is a lawn mower ? I have no speedometer on mine. Hehe.
How do you figure that out. ?
Just had a thought, Tractordata gives speeds sometimes of the tractor. So could look up speeds there maybe.

Let's keep it simple gentlemen and bring in the diesel engines too!

Me neither, no diesel gt. Would like one but why are the prices of diesel engines so high?!

I didn't go digging into it but an old Ingersoll flyer I have lists top speed in low range at 4mph for 3000 and 4.2 for 4000 series tractors.
That would calculate to almost 2 acres per hour at 4mph with a 4' deck.
5280'×4mph×4'=84480sq. Ft ÷43560=1.93 acres per hour.
That would jump to 2.42 acres per hour with a 5' deck.
So if conditions allowed you to run at full speed in low range a 5' deck would cut a half acre more per hour than a 4' deck.

So tested fuel usage on the MF 16, with the 12 hp k301 engine in it. It cuts grass nice and lots of power. So it gets 2.6 litre per hour of cutting grass, so about the same as the Case 224. Did some service to it to day. Good now for the summer. Son is quite happy with it.
