It looks great Harry! I’m really glad you were able to get the paint sorted out. Now it’s time for some seat time!

Re: Painting hood on 444
Harry,
You done Good!!!!!!! That looks great. Sometimes it gets frustrating, doesn't it? Particularly after admiring how good that last layer of paint went on, then you topdress it with one last layer (Maybe clear coat), and it goes to crap! Been there, done that!!!
You guys have been reading in this thread about Clear Coat w/ Hardener. If you happen to look at the thread on "pictures now" or a for sale about my Restored 4118 tractor, you will see what clear coat with hardener looks like. It was a lot of work and frustration, but it is done!

It's impressive to hear how well the clear coat with hardener is working out for your 4118. What brand of coating was it?Seabee wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 6:47 pm HArry,
On my 4118 I have discovered "Clear Coat with Hardener" in a spray can. Really makes a nice finish! and after about 2 weeks the hardener has done it's job! Probably the easiest spray pattern I have ever seen from a can! A number of people have already seen it and have commented how good it looks. Another couple of weeks you will have a chance to see it.

Re: Painting hood on 444 Clear Coat with Hardner
This should be a picture of the "Clear Coat with Hardener" I used on the 4118. On the can you see "2K Clear Coat" and should note the red cap on the top in the lid. On the other side of the can it mentions hardener. You are supposed to shake the can for 2 minutes, then using that red button put it on the nipple on the bottom of the can push down onto a hard surface until you feel and hear the nipple penetrate the can and you can hear the hardener entering the can. It isn't a loud sound, but it is there. Once the Hardener has bee introduced. shake for another 2 minutes, then spray.
I was impressed with how easy the CC with Hardener laid over the final coat on Power Red. I laid the last coat of Power Red, then a couple minutes later applied the CC with Hardener. Or if prepped with a well dried base layer, then the CC w/hardener.
