Looks like around 9" hit me at home over the last two days. Forecast called for coating to 3". I would have stayed home if they got it right. Now I get to arrive at 7am on a tight country road that probably has been plowed 1.5 lanes wide.

Should be powder since it has been cold, so I'm hoping I can push in off the road to my drive, but otherwise I'll be out on the road until I can clear the bottom of my drive...

444 is on deck for this one. Blade on the 8N wouldn't really be great for this depth, and powder doesn't plow nicely anyway.

the weather guessers are saying it is 50/50 chance we will get 20-30 cm or 30-50 cm . So we could get between 20 -50 cm over the next couple of days . 30 cm = 12" for your math . Oh and the winds are suppose to pick up as well . And if thats not enough the bottom is suppose to fall out of the thermometer . Oh yeah . Nieghbours left for Cuba on the weekend . So I have another driveway to do while they are gone . The up side is the extra $$ will help pay for parts for the new to us 2002 Chevy pickup I am trying to get ready for safety .

Yea they say it coming. It’s been snow on and off all morning and I can hear the wind starting to pick up. Waiting fir the right moment to get out the 446 and put it to work.

We've been seeing a mix of sun, cloud and short lived but very intense snow squalls all morning in our corner of the world.
I was getting a little depressed that all the December snowstorms that were burying @Spike188 @DavidBarkey and @Harry in multiple feet of snow had been avoiding us... I would read your stories of plowing and snowcasting and we would only get an inch or so - and then it was generally gone in a few days.

Last Wednesday / Thursday I finally got some quality seat time with Maxine - nothing like some urban snowplowing - we got about 8" in the city, but the temps went above freezing a few days later and all the fluffy white powder snow settled to about half the height...

3 Hours to clean up. 444 did good. I really need to replace the front tires. The right one is shot. I have them in hand, but haven't had the combination of available time, and tolerable weather. Much longer, and the tire is going to make the decision for me.

In other news, between the two storms, someone went off the road and in to a big tree near my mill. That tree has caught several cars over my life. Pretty sure it took one woman's life when I was a kid. Evidence from this go is buried in snow, but tracks are evident, and the scrub around the tree is shredded. None of my cameras point in that direction, so no way to know about this one.

I saw on the weather channel that you guys up in the north east are getting snow. Down this way we have been below freezing the last few days but dry. The early reports are saying we will have bitter cold and an increasing chance for severe weather next weekend. I’m crossing my fingers that it will be all snow and no ice. My 446 was giving me trouble starting. No spark while cranking. So I spent the day troubleshooting, if we get weather I’ll be needing it for sure. Turned out to be a bad ignition switch. Glad to have it up and running. Got the house filled back up with fire wood too. I’ll have to keep an eye on the weather if it look like ice is coming it may be a good idea to make sure the generators are ready just in case.

I know some of you guys love winter but every year that goes by I hate it more and more.

Seems they're threatening us with a potential big storm next weekend too... At least I'll be home for that one if it hits. Generators are pretty much always ready. 3 are good, still working on a 4th...

50F here last week, this morning I'm cleaning up 8" of heavy wet snow. First time I've used the snowcaster this winter.

We got 25-30 cm of snowman snow Sunday nite into Monday. Very surprise that the Case 446 with wooden snow pusher, pushed four times as far as I thought it would.

Not snow but...

Took my 3am shower this morning to go to work. At the end, the water just stopped.

Pump was running, but no pressure.

Cistern was empty. Supply line was frozen someplace.

Hasn't happened in the last 30+ years the line has been in service.

Long story short. I went out in to the tundra at 7am. Water was flowing again at 4pm. Ran a bypass hose off the main to eliminate the last 30' of probably 300' once I figured out where the stop was. Strapped heat tape to the hose just in case. Not how I want to run, but it already cost me a 12 hour work day... After tonight, the temps relent for a couple days, and then we're single digit (F) again on Friday. I'll be home again, so it should be ok... Once I see the temp in the water works climb above 35, I'll be heading to NJ for work... Hate this kind of problem.
