"Don't let your skimmer leak" meaning don't make a careless mistake.

"don't carry coals to NewCastle" meaning don't waste our time stating the obvious

"he's dumb as a box of rocks"

"his porch light is a little dim."

"I'm busier than a one-arm paper hanger."

"I'm busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest"

That's all I can think of that maybe not EVERYONE already knows.
