Good job @Spike188 ! There's another trick I have used for getting such plates to read better. I rub some black old oily dust on the plate and then wipe just the surface. The indented characters then are much easier to read.

I some times just put a little water on with my finger, then lightly dry it a little with a cloth.

The one on my Case 446 was a little hard to see. So I did what I mentioned. The when it was completely dry I clear coated it. Seemed to work.
Did the same thing with an original decal.
