Each day has had it's ups and downs . But time the pain wakes me up from one my naps I am reminded I am still alive . I work in about 4 hours cycles. I will get up from a rest I will try and ocupy my mind with something for couple of hours then the pain will return and tell me to take some meds and go rest again . Then the cycle repeats it's self . But it repeats :highfive:

Sorry to hear about everyone's ride in the meat wagon and hope everyone is feeling better.

The only time I had that experience was when I worked all day moving some pea gravel with a wheel barrow up a ramp unto my trailer. Went home with the trailer full and wife called said she was going to Red Lobster with her Mom for dinner and asked me to go. I showered and drove there to meet them. We ate our meal and getting ready to leave when I started to get a stomach ache. I told the wife I was going to step outside to get some fresh air. Then I passed out and fell on the floor. An ambulance came and loaded me up on the gurney and started to wheel me out with an oxygen mask on my face. The smell of the mask was making me sick and I pulled it off and projectile vomited all over the wall in the entrance of the restaurant. When they wheeled me into the emergency at the hospital I repeated the ordeal with the vomiting. They held me overnight and did a battery of tests on me and never figured what exactly happened. I believe I got dehydrated and my blood pressure dropped and that's why I passed out. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

PS: My wife told me later they never charged us for the meal, they just left after they wheeled me out!

Keep the Peace
Harry

My ride was eight years ago. Doing fine now but can't say there hasn't been some lasting effects.

I was working on a pump on a Saturday when the roof to the pump house fell on my head. It was about a 5' x 5' shingled roof that was hinged at the top and tipped up against the wall of a home. I was on my knees leaning over the edge working on the pump, the board the hinges were fastened to broke loose and the lid fell. I never seen it coming. A metal d-handle hit me in the forehead and cut down through my eyebrow. It nocked me out cold and broke my glasses. At some point I kinda came to but had no idea what happened or what was going on. I took my shirt off to wipe my head but had no comprehension that I was bleeding. I was trying to pack up the service truck and get out of there but couldn't.

At some point I called home, my wife said I was talking so stupid she knew something was wrong, thought I might have heatstroke. She knew where I was working and drove over to check on me. She said I was wondering around covered in blood and taking tools in and out of the truck. She called the meat wagon. I don't remember much about the ride or the next couple of hours.

It's not funny but I wish there would have been a camera somewhere, I would have liked to see what I was doing and for how long. I had let the boom down and packed up the hoist and out riggers on the service truck. Even tried to fix my glasses. The blood trail showed I had been busy. :smash:

I am doing better ,Thanks Matt. I go back to see the Nearo surgine in couple of weeks for a follow up scans and see how I am responding . I will know then if I am aloud to drive again or still grounded . I still struggle to get much done spending most of my time trying to remember what I was doing or where I left what ever I had in my hand . I seem to be healing ok for what I can see , I won't know for a year if there is any lasting damage . Thank god for spell check . Being an active independent person , the hardest thing has been not being able to be active and dependent on others. Oh well , still looking at the leaves and not the roots .

Got some good news Weds. Follow up with the surgical Dr. after another CT scan and everything is healing up nicely. He gave me the go ahead to start weaning myself off the post surgery Meds. Although they were good for my recovery , they do come with some less than desirable side effects . If all goes well I will be cleared to start driving again by Xmas and maybe a couple of :drink:  for New Years . My son has had my truck while I have be told not to drive doing some repairs and repainting the old girl . The truck and I should be ready at the same time . There will be no more of this :headbash: ing aloud . I ware a bump cap when doing anything now . I can't say enough about the staff down at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto ,but I hope I never have to go back .
Keep your stick on the ice and leave the :headbash: teenage rockers .

 that's good news Dave, glad to hear it.
We'll have to have a virtual beer on New years.
Back in the day, one bar would call another and we would all do dial-a-shot. :drink:
Keep getting better,
Tim
