That’s awesome! I’m betting you’ll have this thing running in short order. I watched that video you posted, I like it made me think of all kind of things you could power to display it.

A friend of mine just showed me a hit and miss he picked up. I should have taken a picture of it. I think that one was used as a flower pot by the previous owner. It locked up tight. I think he is going to try and use it for parts.

The gas tank looked pretty bad in side and had a big solder patch on the bottom of it . So I mounted it in the lathe on the slowest speed with a hand full of nut and evapo-rust and let it go for a while .

Well after few minutes it started leaking out of many spots on the bottom . Sweatted away the solder on one end to see inside better . Not good . It is just soldered galvenized 22 gauge steel with some bungs soldered on , so time to make a new one . But wait I sold my bead roller decades ago when got out of building race cars . PA to the rescue .

And it is on sale . Nothing like the beast I had back then ,but Now I have one . It will do , and is small for easy storage .

Well got my bead roller . It will do what I need to do for this tank and gives me the ability to make more dies to make other tanks and panels for GTs . By next week I should be starting the tank . I will do my best to take pictures . Working on this engine elbows deep in old greasy dirt and solvents makes it hard to record pics as I go along working alone . :51: our grandson being a teenager is not interested in that rusty old thing . For now anyways . I can tell you that I have gone through all the cam and gears for the valve and magneto timing . Now just trying to get 228 degrees of total timing and then I can make sure the gears are inline as there is no marks, but they do give when the exhaust valve is to open and to close . The intake valve has just a light spring is basically just a one way check valve.

Once I have that then I can set the magneto trip (snap) .
image.png
The governor is just weight over spring that trips a lever to keep the exhaust valve open to keep rpm at 600 .

Setting the timing of the valve and ignition . Took a little trial by error and angle finding , but got them both . Now just need fuel source and it should run .

Thanks Eugen , I am not without my challenges . Reading mostly . Can't read a novel or most books . I can read words and sentences , but can't read a bunch of them and tell you what it means . But if you read it to me I understand most of it until it gets flowery or legal speak , again I get nothing . If it were not for spell check you would not understand what I write .My wife takes care of the all the important reading . My mom always said "my brains are in my hands" . I just don't know enough to know I can't do something , so I just do it until I figure it out . My mom just called me "just plain stubborn". That has been my life as long as I can remember . They say you learn more from your mistakes then from getting right the first time . That being said I should have a degree in fixoligy .
@Eugen Good to here from you , hope you all are well and things are starting to move forward .
