Same guy just sold a complete but disassembled 646 for 1500. Only thing missing was rear tires.

My initial plan was to build a loader on one of the project 444 s. I realized pretty quickly that it won't happen until the kids are past toddler age, just don't have the time. I'd have been happy if Dave could build one for me, similar to his Frankie which is a beast! But I had no donor working 4xx and he doesn't have availability to do it until next winter. So it was hard to pass on this red machine when it showed up, even though the price was higher than I wanted to pay.

Wow! So impressed with the tractor. Everything is tight and working so well. The loader is fast. There are three levels of rust protection, also known as coats of paint . Blue over the original yellow, and red over blue. Boggles the mind. But I don't care, as far as I mentioned concerned function over form. I got work for this machine!

Hey Eugene, thats great you got yourself a loader. Is that the one you were telling me about ? Looks in good shape .

Yes, that's the one.

Congrats on acquiring a 644 Eugen. Once you get one and put it to use, you see how much work you can get done in a short period of time. I don't believe the Christmas morning feeling ever goes away! I'm very happy for you and it will be so much better than a 400 series tractor.

Looks good Eugen, is it "power red", from the pics it looks close. I think it looks good with the black. I don't know about blue, good thing it got covered up.

The main thing I found challenging was the narrow tires. I still have skinny trenches all over my property from pushing into something. I solved that over a year ago by putting on some spacers and 29-12.50x15 ties with chains. They do not spin, there is not enough hydraulic power. It is much better to hear the bypass over digging holes in the yard.

The tires are also loaded with Rim Guard as all of my tires are.

I always knew I wanted a loader, but the 600 series are not only rare here in Ontario Canada, but when they show up they start a bidding war. After I used it for a little bit when it arrived home, I have to say I'm very impressed how easy it operates. That tire looks monstruous! But I also don't like digging trenches all over with the skinnier tires. I'll look for something wider, not sure I can find the ones you have.

Actually, the tire and the rims are standard tires and rims. The spacer does all the custom work needed.

The spacer is the same 6 bolt pattern on both ends.

Keep in mind that this is placing additional stress on the rear assembly and I may see some very cool failures. But, it is nice to hear the bypass over spinning the tires. You get so much more traction that steering is much harder. At least it is when moving forward. Steering is way easier in reverse for any rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

Both my 646's have the floatation tires for the hoe. They also don't sink/dig trenches. Now, the fronts are a different story. They'll just sink right in when you really load up a bucket...

Next thing you need is forks for it. Getting under things to lift works better with our limited lift height. Obviously putting a quick coupler on is even better... I've got the pin on quick coupler for my forks, but haven't modified the bucket yet, so it's really still screwing with pins for changeover, but since these parts aren't monstrously heavy, that isn't the worst situation. If/when I start needing to do it frequently, I'll work on the bucket.
