A field up the road from me, about a minute away, has a patch of sunflowers. Funny how they turn with the sun.

Well the :wife: can't remmeber what kind they are other than she got the seeds at Walmart .

No worries. I'll probably plant the american giant sunflowers lowes had next year. Last years sunflower grew to about 8'.

It amazes he how the sunflowers keep growing despite being broken over. They somehow manage to grow vertical toward the sun again.

@DavidBarkey your sunflower are awesome! :thumbsup:

We ended up with a fairly nice stand. This variety ended up being between 3 to 5 feet tall. They are done for the year now but that was by design. I planted them with the hope they would be ready for Mourning Doves to eat in the fall and they are right on time. Here is a picture from a few weeks ago.

I need to collect some of the seeds for the chickens then mow the some off for the birds, doves like them on the ground.

I’m thinking if I plant again next year I would like to try a mixed patch with some bigger one like you have.

Ours are 12-1/2ft tall. Heavy rain knocked a few down.
My 561 for comparison.

It would be nice if the flowers were comparatively big!

Wow! @FUTZ seeing the height of those sunflowers - you could almost believe the "Jack and the Bean Stock" fairy tale :))
