I’ve never heard of the Magna Arc Ignition Kit David. I will be looking into those. Thanks for posting.

Harry
The Magna Arc was available years ago and quite expensive even at that time. Haven't seen one for a long time.
Bob
I have been trying to get one to how it work and see if I could make my own .
Dave, I'm really looking at this too.. Any help would be more than welcome by I think most of us on the forum. Any contacts, schematics, etc. As an electronic Engineer I am sure that we could adapt whatever so the members could use.
Seems like the industry has/is passing us by (probably because we are a small group).

I like the idea Ray. Electronics has been my hobby for years. We should be able to come up with an alternative.

Seems I have seen several JD electronic ignition available recently but nothing for the Case/ingersoll. I know from dealing in the 80's with car and motorbike engines with points that the change is monumental but we as an owner group have been left scrambling on our one way too long. Yeah we are a relatively small group, a few thousand, but we also need to move forward too. Am I wrong here trying to push this? or should we as a group be demanding solutions for s to move forward?

Ray can you show us these JD unit you are talking about . Ignition systems are engine specific more than tractor , and a lot of JDs had Kohler and Onan engines in them in the same time period .

A couple of members asked about JD electronic ignitions on EBay so here's my Ebay search:
"onan B43M electronic ignition"
Like always when you search Ebay you get all sorts of odd things appear too so it will take a few moments to find .
Just one to get you started:

That is the performer pickup modual . You need the crank ring and performer front cover to make it work . That being said , I have a P220 (Performer 20 hp welder genny engine )in Frankie and the ignition system has performered flawlessly except the coil failing a few years back for over 10 years now that I have had it and was all used when I got it .
I would say that is a good system and there are still some NOS parts out there to be had.
