Had the problem on my original 1977 446 with BF engine. This engine has a combined fuel pump/carb. I changed it out for a low pressure electric fuel pump and never had another fuel issue. Interestingly, my later GT's with external fuel pump have never exhibited this problem.

I don't fool around with fuel pumps. I just run with gravity feed.

@Spike188 still, which type of pump do you plan on installing Eugene? Once you install it you will marvel how easy it is to start the engine.

Me thinks an electric pump would be prime, but there are several parts engine in storage. I will probably spit and sputter messing with a used pulse pump. Which will be followed up with waisted energy, more head banging, and a new pump. There now, I can't say I didn't warn myself..
