Backhoe digging
I had the 644 hoe out back trying to expand the pond a bit this morning. It was too wet and the dirt kept sticking in the hoe bucket. After four tries and having to pry the dirt out of the bucket I gave up. Supposed to rain the next three days. I guess I will give up this year.

Could you coat the bucket with slip plate? I'm sure rocks would wear it off but it may help?

I've also punched a couple holes in the bottom of the bucket to avoid creating a vacuum with wet material. On the plus side, it doesn't hold water if I leave it out in the rain. Mud is going to be a challenge regardless, and the more narrow the bucket the worse it is.

Re: Backhoe digging
There a few holes in the hoe bucket for drainage and no ricks in this dirt. I’m digging down about a foot to eighteen inchess only. Then moving this to an area that is going to be tilled and plant arborvitae trees. It’s raining again currently so this job must wait for drier weather that I don’t believe were going to get this year.
