Removal of tcv

Yesterday between projects on the short list, I tried to remove the two countersink bolts that go through the floor of the no so green anymore GT. I tried a impact drive tool that you strike with a hammer. They wouldn’t budge and one is rusted so bad it almost looks like it’s welded. I might have to drill them out if necessay. Anyone have a better idea? :45: :40: :peace: Harry

Maybe a combination of heat, then soak with the penetrating oil of your choice, then tapping on them with a hammer. Rinse and repeat and fingers crossed they pop loose! Countersunk bolts have a lot of surface area to get rust.

Try welding a hex nut nut to the head of the counter sunk bolts. The heat might break things loose. :-- I could recommend a skilled welder in your neighborhood. :wave3:

If memory serves me correct they 5/16" flat head screws with a nut on the bottom side . Get a socket on the bottom side and break loose . if the nut is seized on do like Eugene said and weld a nut on the flat head and snap them off and get 2 new ones for reinstall.

My bad Dave. You are correct about the 2 nuts that can be reached from the underside.
