Even though I realize time marches on, and structures like this have become obsolete I still really hate seeing them slowly disappear never to be used again.

@Eugen @Harry i do wind up in unexpected places in a day. Now I try to get a picture or two when I find something interesting, I wish I would have been doing that over the years. I would have quite a collection of behind the scenes and abandoned places
by now!

When I was young, I used to hate the fall. Because it meant summer and summer's fun was over, and the cold and dark winter was about to set in. And in a metaphysical sense as well. The fall reminded me of middle age, being "passed your prime" and old age about to set in.

But now that I actually AM middle aged, and I've dealt with my fear of aging and death, I find that I love the fall especially. The weather is wonderful, which allows you to enjoy the outdoors more fully. And of course the beautiful fall foliage with their myriad colors.

And for me it means quality time with my grandkids, quality time with my trusty garden steed (sucking up leaves).

And a lovely time for a fire.

This is the life!

Old age with its pains and limitations is surely on the way. But I'll always remember the special times that I'm having right this very minute. Some of the best times of my entire 50+ years!

Got a quick ride in a friend's homemade car. Wish I would have gotten some more pics of the inner workings. He's a paraplegic and built it from his chair and crawling around on the floor. It's pretty cool.

Got to do some work with Grandpa this weekend
PXL_20231105_192135580.jpg
Moved a small wood pile about 20' :)) Spent more time putting the wood in and out of the trailer than driving it 20' :giggle:
PXL_20231105_203901302.jpg

But I got it done in one shot  , I also learned that the tongue of the trailer and the hitch on the 195 need some modifications - going to set them up for a 2" ball and receiver hitch.

After that little job was done I drove Grandpa down the mountainside :109: ( Actually a steep hillside, - but behind the steering wheel of a 195 it feels like a dangerous mountain road :42:)
Took it down in low range, at idle and very slow, hunting for the retarder position :please: (very loose travel linkage) only once pushed it too far (into reverse) - it was barely moving, but the tires chirped and I think tried to go backwards

Worst part after parking it and locking up the container was the 1/3 of a mile hike up hill :snail: to where my truck was parked...

@RoamingGnome thank you for these pictures! By the way, is the container grampa's in 20'? Looks smaller than that, but it's hard to tell from the pic.

@Timj That thing is awesome! Looks like he did a great job!

@RoamingGnome the 195 really looks good, and quite happy in its surroundings! It’s even got a nice house to live in now! You’ll get used to running on hills after awhile, I felt the same way when we moved to our place. Every time I got on a hill I was sure it would result in a fiery crash at the bottom! Now it’s no problem I just don’t get in a hurry and let the tractor put along.
