I put the axle pin kit in my main 444 two years ago. Eliminated the slop but it's now back again, and the bolt is plenty tight. I'll try some shims next I think.dhitching wrote:I do have the "upgraded" axle pin, but I think my frame is separated a bit at the axle pivot like you said MattA. I've got the pivot as tight as is reasonable for that size bolt and it didn't seem to fix my axle slop unfortunately. Might have to pull the engine and/or drop the front axle to really get anywhere with that. Poor Man's Power Steering isn't a bad idea, I've mostly just dealt with it, but my 4120 is so so nice to steer in comparison hahaha.
I just redid the rest of the steering with the proper spacer washers and a new bushing on the upper part of the shaft under the steering wheel. It's like new now with absolutely no play, but the axle slop is annoying.
I also had the poor man's power steering kit from last year and installed that while I was going through the steering. Another great upgrade!
