L46 deck rebuild
started into another project tonight. Have to replace the bearings in my L46 deck. The right doesn't sound too bad, the left is noisy, and center sounds like a rusty bowling ball rolling down the alley.
Not going to do a detailed thread but will throw out some progress pics. For anyone that hasn't done this there's some good YouTube videos of the process. Not going to beat a dead horse. :highfive deck's on, blades sharp, let's go it's time to mow

Re: L46 deck rebuild
The bearing replacement went smoothly, no grief. Whoever did it last time put anti-sieze on so three of the pulleys came off by hand and one needed a couple of raps with a plastic hammer and a little pry. No beating or air hammer.
A quick touch up of the blades and put back on the 448 and ready to mow.

All back together and a new belt on. A quick touch up of the blades and put back on the 448 and ready to mow.

Wow that project went quick and easy! Got to love it when they go smooth, wish they were all that way!

Yeah the way things have been going and after watching a couple of YouTube videos I was expecting a fight.

I actually don't think it's been that long since they were replaced, but the China bearings didn't last.

I had the same experience with cheap china bearings from a CCI dealer... twice. Hope it's much quieter

Re: L46 deck rebuild
I suppose when bearings go bad fast the silver lining is that the bolts and pulleys are much easier to take off eh? Now I'm thinking to get used to the idea of seasonal bearing replacement.

Re: L46 deck rebuild
I sure would hope to not have to do it annually but for as quick as this went it would be doable.
To the best of my knowledge the ones in my AHRM48 are original and not noisy.

Re: L46 deck rebuild
I couldn't wait to try it out till I was done with the hydraulics on the 448. So I changed the oil, checked and blew out the motor, put the deck on, and took it for spin before the rain started. She's smooth and quiet.
