Post by RoamingGnome »

Just thought I would share some tasty sights with you... :wife: made Bacon Chilli Cheese Dogs for supper... might need a Tums smoothie later, but dang they were tasty.

We have an Iconic Hot Dog stand close to us called "Easterbrooks" They started serving hotdogs in 1930. My Dad went there as a teenager, brought my brothers and I as a treat when we were growing up, and I continued the tradition now with my wife and friends...

The decor is iconic and they are famous for naming the topping combos - like the "Breathalizer" "Wonderdog" "Reubendog" and my Dad's favourite - The "Belly Buster" Cheese, mustard, bacon, fried onions, chilli and tomato...

It was my Dad's favourite, and if we can we still go back every year on his birthday and have one for him...

I might have to try it out next week. Working in Stoney Creek then, if parts arrive, and a mandatory stop at Sayel in Burlington.

@RoamingGnome I love places like that.
What a great way to remember your dad’s birthday.
Those dogs look great! I can hear my stomach rumbling just looking at them!

The hot dogs look terrific. My mouth is watering looking at them. There use to be a hot dog place not far from me that was there for many years. It closed a few years ago, not sure why. It had rides outside for the kids to ride on, ice cream and the hot dogs were either beef or pork, your choice. Their most popular one was the name of the place. The Whistle Pig, which was a dog wrapped in bacon. They also had different sauces you could order on it. I miss that place. :( :peace: Harry

Angels Dinner; me and the boy have a pan-fried burger there, when the planets align, (ie. when he's visiting and the :wife: is preoccupied).

@DavidBarkey and @FUTZ We've eaten at Angel's Diner in Orangeville - It was really good, They tried franchising or expanding to more locations - we ate at a couple of other Angel's diners but none were as nice as the one in Orangeville.

There is also the "Flashback Diner" in Barrie - we ate there a couple of times after going to HCEA Canada (Historical Construction Equipment Association) events at the Simcoe County museum outside of Barrie Ontario - fun day of watching old iron pushing dirt around and then having a good "Diner" style meal before heading home...
