I was out and about last Saturday when I got a text from a friend I hadn't talked to in years, he knew I was into garden tractors and when they were clearing out a newly purchased house and he came across 2 of them, he let me know, and am I ever glad he did! Attached is the picture of the tractors he sent me. I let him know I was on my way over! I was told that if I didn't want the pair of them for $200, they were going to take them to the scrap yard.
It took us about an hour to get them from their "grave" onto the trailer, they were out behind a small city house and it was pretty tight back there, and the flat tires didn't help either. The 4020 needed both rear tires tubed, and the 3014 has one front tire that's shot. The battery in the 3014 was from 2005, so who knows how long they've been sitting back there. After checking them over and adding fresh fuel, both engines fired right up without any work, not even a carb cleaning.
The 3014 has the remains of an HVFB Hydrabagger unit on it, which both hydraulic hoses are shot. The 4020 also had some hydraulic hose leaks so I went through and replaced all of them. I took the 4020 for a drive yesterday and it works like new! The hour meter only indicates 230 hours, and it works. The 3014 has about 1200 hours on it. Both decks are going to need a full rebuild as the bearings in both are seized up.
Attached is also a picture after their 3rd or so trip to the local car wash, these things were filthy after sitting a long time. I think they cleaned up pretty well, especially considering the price. I may sell the 3014 down the line, but the 4020 is here to stay.
