Drive motor body leaks

Post by DavidBarkey »

I decided to fix this before became a problem after all assembled . It wasn't leaking yet , but I know Murphy would show up after final assembly and the cab is on like he did when I built cab for Frankie . :cuss:
Leaving the bottom wheel on makes a great work stand . I would not recommend doing this horizontal.

Note the rust creeping in for outside where the seal rides

seal still good , but cap needs cleaning too

Note the white dot , next to cleanliness , correct alignment will make sure the motor turn the correct direction

Barrel off, most of the motor left alone . I use a pin to keep everything in line .

Too be continued

Dave, that looks great! If you were to get new seals, where from? Also, where did you get the right colour spray paint?

Good time for a little PM  I will have to remember that one :worship:

So the seals were still soft and pliable, at their age?

That I am not sure .They are not a standard O ring . They are a square ring with bevelled shoulders on the outside only .
I beleave there is a seal kit available though the Case parts suppliers that has all the seals . All of mine are Ross (TRW) . I found and cleaned off the tag . I am going to take a pic. of it and runn it and see what comes up .

Ya just have to clean the rust off and make sure the seal and barrel ends are lubed on re-assembly .
