Shield head baffle?

Post by TLD89 »

Just going through part manual and seen a LH shield head baffle extension. c-311415. I have owned a few 3018 and 4020's and they didn't have the baffles on them. Should they have ?

I don't remember a new tractor not having the one that you mention and both of my 4020's still have it. Not sure why, but seems like a PO removed it and did not reinstall.

I'm looking on Google to see what part you're talking about and I'm not finding it. Is it part of the tins around the muffler?

I'm curious as to whether my 4020 has it or not.

But since I don't yet know what it is, it's hard to know... 🙂

I could not find a manual in our ccigt library and hope to rectify that soon.

Topic of heat shields I know the heat shields are imported but I see a lot of Onan's without the left side metal. Do you think with having it on it holds more heat on the motor or it helps move the air out from the motor?

depends on where it is and it job . Exhaust shield are to keep the heat in and engine shrouds are for air flow / cooling . Most important thing with any engine is to allow it idle down and cool down before shutting down .

Seems pretty odd not to have those baffles. I've bought and sold probably 60 case ingersolls over the years. They have been on all of the ones I purchased from. There have been maybe 2 or 3 with some missing baffles but that was because the previous owner was trying to repair something and didn't reinstall, but the baffles came with.those were parts machines. I personally would not run my machines without shields in place.
