Another 64X owner
@Merchlewitz Welcome aboard CCIGT. You may be new to the Case Virus but are known to the 600 series guys because you have a unit that make me jealous. Post some pictures of your rig when you get a chance. I have two 646's one looks like this and one like this
May your dreams never die.... There is no subframe attachment points for the a back hoe on the 74 model 646 but one can dream.

Re: Another 64X owner
Hello thanks for the welcome! I am very new to the case virus indeed and eager to learn more I was able to track this 648 down an hour and a half away. Very clean and well taken care of unit besides a few minor things hydraulic leaks I plan to fix. It has around 1593 hours on it and purrs like a kitten. My plans are to hunt down a back hoe for it.. I have located a belly weight and plate to mount the backhoe.. I will need the rest including 3 arms bolts etc.. I will also need to locate a heavier duty rear end as well.

You're right, that is a clean machine, congrats! As for the backhoe, we have three people here working on backhoe projects, @Spike188 , @thebuildist , and myself. Hopefully we're all going to learn something from each other

@Merchlewitz Welcome! Glad you’re here and hope you enjoy hanging out! There are many very knowledgeable and helpful people here.
Looks like you found a nice tractor! I can tell you they’re quite handy. Hear a picture of my 648. I have leaks to fix too.

@Merchlewitz The counter weight looked like it fits the 646B with S/N 9732040 and newer or the 648b.

See page 66 of the manual.
This is the parts manual for the 648.

The part number for the 646B and 648 appear to be different but that may be because of a parts number change.
I am surprised that your 648 would not come from the factory with the webbed transaxle. This is a Backhoe transaxle with the extra webbing.
This is a standard transaxle without the webbing.

Re: Another 64X owner
Funny you say that I think the owner swapped it out.. because there were issues.. I should reach out about fixing it and putting it back in..Spike188 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 11:06 pm @Merchlewitz The counter weight looked like it fits the 646B with S/N 9732040 and newer or the 648b.

After reviewing the documents the weight looks exactly the same in both.. again I’ve not found any info on what it’s worth or what it weighs?

Re: Another 64X owner
That front counter weight is 500lbs. About a year or 2 ago I saw one advertised for $150. Just recently I saw one listed for $750. I think it was the same one. Someone purchased it to resell.

@Merchlewitz Welcome! Looking forward to seeing more of your 648... Good luck with your backhoe - I'm envious of the LBH units on here...
