Re: New 444 Owner with some questions (Southern Ontario)
Thank you all for your kind advice and replies!
I'm assuming that little hitch I have is what is considered a sleeve hitch?
The trailer may indeed be a Case one... Its laughably small and has no back to it.... I do want to get a larger one from princess auto or something to haul firewood.
I ideally want the 60" deck to work. I used to own a lawncare business and used to cut with a 42" Walker... I know all about time blades (annoying lol)... I initially was thinking the 14hp would be underpowered for such a big deck but we'll see. I'm hoping its got enough bawls... It would get the yard done a decent amount quicker!!!
I do indeed have the brackets to attach the mower deck to the tractor. I'm so excited to use this thing... I also want to put an with a little stack and flapper lol...

@turboff That trailer is a nice find. I attended an auction last year where I bought my 446. They had two Case trailers. One the size of your and one a little bigger. They sold for more than any other attachment there.
Yours might be small, but it is almost certainly better constructed that any metal yard trailer you will find at the usual suspects.

After posting, I remembered the J48 designation for the early 60" deck, but didn't think it was a possibility as it would not mount to a short wheelbase 444. Previous owner must have never mounted it. The 60 " decks were introduced in 1980, the same year as the 448 and all of the other long wheelbase tractors. It will not mount to the 1972 444.turboff wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 6:19 pm Thank you all for your kind advice and replies!

Your trailer is missing the back, normally there is one. I have that trailer too, and a slightly bigger princess auto tipe trailer. The Case trailer can carry a lot more weight though. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy yourself something else, you should get what you need.
The rear door is really useful though. Pity yours is missing. Maybe you can have one made from 1/8 steel plate.

I'll take a picture of it and show you. It doesn't hinge. It slides into the side triangle slots from above.
