Case 446 with exhaust extension
Not sure how extension was going to help with diverting exhaust fumes when muffler end needs attention. Onan has a little guy with hammer inside that needs some investigating

It will be a project for sure it didn't take much to start so fix might not be that extensive. Only time will tell. Muffler is also missing all the insulation

Re: Case 446 with exhaust extension
Looks good my only concern is where you will house it during the winter season. For me it was fitting a B&S 18 hp engine (best thing I have ever done to that worn out engine) but the downside was that it had to sit outside and could not be covered for several hours due to an exposed and hot exhaust pipe and muffler. Get that in check and you have a winner.

Re: Case 446 with exhaust extension
Wonder if that was a vibration issue or too many backfires that fixed that muffler up like that. I guess that periscope running into stuff could put a little strain on it.

Re: Case 446 with exhaust extension
Unfortunately it is a broken connecting rod, so Onan rebuild possibly. See when I get it apart. I had hopes of being muffler and also new the sound was going to be costly

Dave , which engine is in that . I have not thrown out any of the parts from the BF-MS 3.125" bore . It also had one bad rod but the other piston and rod look good . You are welcome to any or all of the old part from that Onan that I have .

Re: Case 446 with exhaust extension
I did not find good things inside Onan. Crankshaft journal not in good shape, piston was welded(who does that ?) Connecting rod was new style, so engine was probably not balanced when mixed with old style rod on other cylinder. Pan gasket didn't look like this was done long ago
