Those that have one of the 60" decks, lay it on me, what is your opinion of it???
Was just thinking about it the other day while mowing. If I ran across one, should chase it? My yard is open enough, and the 448 is made for it. Have heard good things about the cut quality????

Re: 60" Mower Decks
Go for it Tim! I personally wouldn't want one of the oldest LH throw decks, but soon after they changed the design of the mounting hardware and that has been a good deck! I also have a 60" RH throw I am in the process of rebuilding and will form my opinion of it as soon as I try it out!

Re: 60" Mower Decks
With sharp blades, and the scalping roller removed on the RM60 the 16hp Onan does a splendid job. The 446 usually makes the open the cuts along the gravel driveway and areas where the 60" might scalp or pick up a rock. Rocks, large branches, and extreme scalping can knock the blades out of time. When that happens the deck has to be removed and at least an hour devoted to cleanup and timing. Merri is quite comfortable using the 4016 because the deck reaches farther under low hanging trees.
The larger deck reduces the mow time up to 45 minutes. We do not notice and increase in fuel consumption.
We like it.
