7020 coil replacement and info

Post by Spaulding »

Worked on my 7020 this weekend to swap out coils. Over the summer i noticed it not wanting to idle smooth, running rich and breaking up in higher rpm. Cleaned carb and rebuilt been in ultrasonic a few times as well. Ordered oem kohler coils and pulled motor out in less than 40 mins, theres enough room to hang hyd pump and tank outa the way to pop motor out. Ended up finding one of the coil kill wires chewed up and shorting out and also coil delaminating, forImage anyone down the road the original coils were 24-584-01s and they superced to 24-584-201s for future reference they have to be mounted with kill wire terminals backwards from how the factory ones sit, polarity is not effected. Figured it was a good time to pull all the tins inspect the flywheel magnets and blow the mud and mud wasp nests out.figured id post the info incase anybody in the futures lookin

Looks like a nice machine, I’m jealous of the 4x4!
I’m looking forward to more pictures of this thing at work too!

I don’t know much about the 7020’s. A friend I know had two and one had some issues with the front drive differential. I talked to him about it and was considering purchasing it, but then thought it would be one of those upside down projects. :peace: Harry

I really should have gone with that style when I built mine. The vertical travel makes more snese than the arc mine moves through.

Ill get some pictures up later it works very well it doesnt have down pressure but its basicly a stabilizer for a one man auger so it doesnt toss u like a rag doll all you have to do is squeeze the throttle and push.... was going to add a winch or ram to lift it out the hole but it works so great as is but i think im goin to build a fround mount for the bucket or just put a dingo auger head up front as i have a big fence project this spring
