442 PK wiring

I'm sure this question has been asked 100 times. I tried searching past posts, but didn't get far. I have several 'official' wiring diagrams but I have a problem with following wires when they run several inside a tube and are numbered. I need a hand drawn diagram with colors listed, of the switch and regulator. Anyone ever post such a thing ?? I cannot see where the 12v comes from, to get to the switch. MY solenoid not energizing by key. And I have temporarily put a ground jumper on it. ( neutral grounding is defective) Thank you.

I’m sorry I don’t have a diagram to share, but was thinking, would a continuity light help trace the wiring?

I don't know how much you could trust a wiring diagram with coloured wires. The wires in your tractor might have been changed. Like Jeff said, it wouldn't be that hard to figure out where each wire goes with a continuity meter.

Our 4018 started blowing the 30 amp fuse last night. This started me thinking about how to tackle your problem and maybe yours. Instead of a wiring diagram like our manuals have, a ladder diagram might be easier for a novice to follow. @ckainMich What is the serial number on your tractor?

Good point. With the right diagram we can figure out a way to chase each wire for its purpose.

I took a look at the 442 manual. It has been 20 years since doing ladders. Ladder diagrams are a weekly encouter in my line of work.. This morning memories of an old software program came back. A copy of it should still be around that would simplify and make the ladder diagram easier to layout.

I had to look up the term ladder diagram, as I didn't know exactly what it was. Thanks for overloading my brain @Spike188 !

Spike, I can do well with a 'real' schematic or ladder dia. I was trained in electronics in USAF. Many years ago.lol
My serial on the 442 is 9332595.

Trying to help. Look at this diagram, do to have these components? I'll try to find a better one.

The line drawings are on page 5 and 6 of this manual. The neutral position switches failures are a known issues. It would cause the issue that @ckainMich is having.

@Spike188 you are so much better than me at finding the right manual! I didn't even know we had color coded diagrams. Thank you, I'll keep this one bookmarked!

The Pk tractor replacment decals are in a parts manual for 1969-1970. I found the electrical drawings I the 2nd technical manual section. @Eugen I realy need to get at making the manuals list that I committed to.

And leave us nothing but grief and pain,

I have tried book marking pages before but all those stickies make it hard to see the screen . And when I open the lap top the pages are gone . All I am left with is a screen covered in stickies . :violin:

 you had me there for a sec

Back to regular programming. @ckainMich the manual @Spike188 pointed to above has the color coded schematic, that should help you along. Let us know how the repair is going.
