I take care of concrete driveways in the neighborhood many on steep grades and that really wear the blades down. I try to keep the blades off the driveways as much as I can, but they still get worn down.
Have you concidered UHMW plastic bearing material , the stuff they use for iceless hockey surface ?
Plastic for the scraper blade instead of steel? I would think the plastic would wear down a lot faster than s.s. steel or any metal.

Seems like steel is the least expensive, and probably UHMW is most expensive, and hard to find (unless you're Dave who has friends at NASA :inacall: :P ). :writing:

Isn't that the same stuff they use on snowmobiles when they switched from bogie wheels to slide rail suspension in the tracks? Ours held up really well considering crossing gravel roads and running ditches with the salt and sand thrown off the roads

I do beleave it is the same stuff . and as long as you kept it cool the slide would last a long time . Seeing as the speed on which we plow or blower is slow I don't see why it wouldn't last a long time and no marks on drive ways from the cutting edge . Now chains are a different story .

Just found on Ebay UHMW black wear blade no holes 54" fifo 1771.
Item no. 251442643953 The wear blade is for a green d. but can be ordered without holes. I wasn't sure the predrilled hole would line up so ordered without
