Case 220 questions

Post by propane1 »

Just wondering if the 220 is basically the same as a 224. Engine size is different. But is the drive system the same, lift system ? Is the mowing deck the same ? Does every thing basically operate the same between the two tractors?
Thanks for any information.

Noel, the 220 I had seemed to me identical to my 224 in all respects, except for the engine size.

I do believe the difference is the mid lift system. On a 220 it is manual strong arm lift. No mid lift hydraulics. Rear axle is the same as everything else.

My 220 had mid lift hydraulic lift and rear hydraulic PTO and it came with snow caster, deck, and tiller. Maybe the 210 had the manual strong arm lift?

The 222 I restored had a stronge arm mid lift .
I beleave the older 220 and 222 s had strong arm mid lift and the newer ones have hydra lift along with the 224 and 226 s and all 400 series are hydra lift . Our dealers would know more on this subject .

Being old enough to have sold those tractors when new, we could order the 220, 222 and 442 with either manual or hydraulic lift. The 224/444 tractors all came with hydraulic lift standard. The J30 hydraulic lift kit existed for the customer who wanted to add hydraulic lift to a manual lift 220 or 222.
