644 wouldn't move today

My 644 has set for a week or longer with no use. Fired it up today and when I pushed the right-side foot pedal to move it went to the floor and stayed there. I lifted it with the rear stabilizers and the bucket, then put some jack stands under it. I noticed the pedal control rod had broken in two right where it goes through the pedal rod. Not having one in my back pocket to replace it with, I removed the broken one. Went into the shop and looked into my bolt drawers to find a hardened 5/16" bolt just the right length. I cut the head off the bolt and drilled a small hole near that end where a spring goes. Crawled back under the tractor and installed the makeshift part and the tractor was ready to rock and roll. A quick observation of the control "banana" plate shows a bit of wear, so I ordered a rebuild kit that includes a new control rod. An afternoon project for this winter in the shop when I don't use this machine. Sorry no Pics. :phew:
I used it to move a few buckets full of dirt and the tractor moved fine.

Keep the Peace :cop: :peace:

A job well done. Glad you could get up and running without too much trouble. That should last a good long while til your ready to replace the plate.

Isn't it nice when things fall into place like that @Harry ? Sometimes a simple broken bolt can result in a couple of days work. Glad you got it fixed swiftly.
