226 winter project

I just brought into my shop yesterday a 226 winter project. This was a tractor a friend gave to me a few years ago. I've had it outside with a tarp on it. I blew it off good with compressed air and put it on my lift. I'm planning on staring the engine before any cosmetic improvements.

 looks like a good candidate Harry. I guess time will tell how much of a project it becomes. Looking forward to the journey. :highfive:

Looks like a very decent project. I wish I had a shop to work in on winter projects. I have to work on mine during the summer cause once the snow starts to fly I'm done going out to the cabin where my shop is.

I know how that feels. My shop is actually an unheated shed 9x12 feet, full to the brim with stuff and a work area on the bench, about 2x2 feet, when I clean it up. It sits on a slab of cement which by now roots from the nearby trees pushed in all kind of ways, and big crack developed. Worst of all last winter I noticed water made it in somehow and flooded the floor, there was no way to get it out and dry it up, so everything made of metal got quite rusty. Tried to fix it as best I could over the last two months, hoping the water won't get in. Why am I saying this? For you guys who do have a reasonable size, well equipped shop, please treasure it, because it's something some of us just dream of. :violin:

I agree Eugen, don't even want to think about it.
Harry's just to darn efficient in his winter prep. He is wiser than you and I and does not put things off till he's knee deep in the white stuff. I know he's got plenty of projects, but if there's not much wrong with that Onan, he'll have it done before w_____. :D

I put this tractor in the woods with a tarp over it, just so the :wife: wouldn't complain about it. Even though it cost nothing I would hear about the tractor situation. She went out to have dinner with her siblings so that was the time to bring the tractor out of the woods and into the shop. She heard about it a few years ago when it showed up, but we all know how they are! I don't want to upset the :wife: for no reason at all. I get :wife: upset enough for reasons unknown to me.
At first look I thought the B48M was the best thing on the tractor, but it also has 2 link tire chains. I also previous borrowed the battery and seat from it. Either way it's in the shop paintently waiting for me when the when white stuff starts to fly.

I forgot to mention that my 644 lbh hoisted the 226 up in the air and moved it up to the shop area. I should have got a pic of that but as usual I forgot. I get involved doing projects and forget to take pics.

A fairly common problem with us old farts (not born with a phone in our hands) ;)
