I was contacted by someone who has a 444 with no engine. GT has a mowing deck and he wants $200 for it. What do the members think? Deal or no deal? :spin: :peace: Harry

I would jump on it if it has a working accessory clutch or a holding valve and a tight steering gear.

:letmesee: there should be enough parts to make it worth it.

I think if it were me I’d want to go see it for sure. Depending on the condition of what’s there who know what kind of deal you can strike.

Good luck, and happy hunting!

See if the mowing deck has the steel spindle housings or the cast aluminum housings which corrode. The steel housings fetch about $50 each.

Harry I see you have only 5 Case GT's, you might want to round that number up one. I know I would give it a look over given the chance.

I have a 444,446,644,646 and a 226. I’m thinking of selling the 226 which was given to me, it has some issues. Then possibly find a 448. I know a guy who has one that is ready to go, I’m just not willing to pay what he wants for it. :peace: Harry

This is an early tractor with a manual deck lift and will not have an easy clutch. The only big catch in the box might be the muffler if it isn't rusted out.

@Harry If you were to mount a welder generator inplace of the k321 and change the hydralic motor to an electric motor you would have a hybrid mobile welder . A rack on the back could hold all your whips and stuff . :weld1:

IMO you can do a lot better for $200.

While trying to bring my 446 up to a good condition, I realize how many parts are worn to the extreme. IMO looks like it will need a lot of money. But if you have a stash of good parts it will definitely be a project for sure.

I see the seller just reduced the price to $100. I would take it for free if he delivered it. LOL.   Harry

Spike,

All 444's have hydraulic lift, even the ones earlier than this one. The lift lever can be seen in the photos posted.
