Get your son-in-law law to come with his nice New Holland tractor with 5’ frontier tiller and give the gardens a go.

That gets it done in a hurry.
Now Noel , if you can get them to plant , weed and harvest . You would be all set . Of course you would have to supervise .

I spoke to a friend yesterday who tilled his garden a couple of weeks ago when the weather was terrific here. Then it started to rain and he said it’s like a big bowl if pudding.
That would upset me too!
