Picture Eugen. I just put the sensor on the return pipe, wrapped it on some how and put the rubber hose over it.
So it’s sensing the temperature of the pipe, not the oil, but it should be close enough to the right temperature.

I was wondering, because I'm not sure myself how to measure the engine temperature of my 644, same engine as you, the Kohler K321

Just finished cutting the grass with the Case 224. Drive oil temperature at 71F. Outside temperature 72F with a feels like 86F, with the sun out. Drive oil 132F at the end of cutting. And by the time I let it run for a few minutes and blow of a little bit of dirt, temperature is down to 112F. So it seems to be consistent and is working good.

Nice to see consistent temperatures like that, it's a healthy engine. Good for you Noel!

I finally got to cut the lawn today, I decided to use the 448 today. I took some temp readings with my heat gun for comparison to Noel's. After 3 hours of mowing wide open throttle.
Outside air temperature 88°f
Engine head bolt 303°f
Oil filter 270°f
Hydraulic oil in tank 170°f
Oil cooler surface temperature 145°f

Next time I'll do the 4118.
:446cart: let's go, it's finally time to blow. :peace:

88F is up there Tim. Hot compared to mine. But I don’t have the same measuring tool as you. Neat comparison.

It's been warm here Noel, it was pretty hot mowing with the heat blowing back off the engine, but I wanted/had to get it done.

I don't think our temps are to far apart if you compare my cooler temp to yours with the sensor on the line. Factor in the air temp difference and running harder/longer

Mowed with the 4118 today, been kinda curious to see how the oil temps compared to the 448 considering how much more work the hydraulic system is doing.
2 hours mowing fairly light grass
Outside air temperature 80°f
Engine head bolt 298°f
Hydraulic oil tank 185°f
Oil cooler surface 170°f

At the end I mowed for about half an hour in some grass that had not been cut this year, 2' tall tuff stuff, made her work a little. Hydraulic oil tank temp 202°f
