the way we roll
Yesterday May 18th after a couple of days of rain decided to roll the lawn again while good and soft . Weather was cold , wet , snow , sun and breezy . But was comfortable the whole time .

Re: the way we roll
I have no experience with rolling a lawn. Did it work well Dave? Any concern about the AG tires or the roller takes care of that anyway?

I'm also curious... With how small my roller is and how heavy my 4020 is, I figure if the lawn is soft enough for my roller to doing anything then the 4020 must be making larger ruts than the roller can flatten!
Admittedly I haven't done the ground pressure calcs...

Lookin good Dave. I wonder if a fella hooked up one of those hydraulic vibrators that they use on stone slinger trucks to get all the gravel out of the box, would that help with rolling better.

Re: the way we roll
I've got a handful of area's that need rolled out too. Afraid that it will not compact it like I want with one of those. Been wanting to try this also. I've seen a guy advertise around me with a walk behind 2 drum roller compactor for doing lawns. I need to find his number and see if he can fix me up. It looks very heavy what he has.

Seams to worked well . mostly for flattening the mole hills after the winter so as not to kill the blades on the mower first cut . The Aggs didn't bite to much . They were on from disking the garden and to lazy to take them off . There the loaded one I usually put on Frankie .

Re: the way we roll
I’ve had it on my mind to build a roller like that for awhile now. Haven’t come across a tank to make one out of yet, not that it matters, I don’t think I have time to add another project into the mix at this point!

Re: the way we roll
Are there any Pipe line contractors in your area? I worked pipeline for a few years and drug home some 4.5 foot drops from 24 inch pipe. I used one to rebuild a buddies 48" wide big box store roller. The drum was made of extra thin sheet metal and cracked big time from rolling over Oak surface roots.
When I delivered it to my buddy I said let's see you wreck this one and hit the drum full force with a 8 pound sledge hammer OH did I mention the pipe I used has 3/8" thick side wall
