First attempt at colour matching enamel rust paint from as sample . Reflection was a problem with the with the optical scanner . The colour is close in hue but not dark or orange enough , too pink. I think fade was a problem in the sample . Have a new sample that won't have any fade .
Rust paint with enamel reducer and universal urethane hardener .

Have to leave it harden for a week then scuff/sand and repaint .

Looking amazing!

But I could never wait a week. I can barely wait a half an hour!

Ya, but it need time to cure or will wrinkle when top coated . And I have a back log of stuff to do . Only working 6 hours a day thing pile up . Oh well 6 is better than what I was doing 2 months ago . Patients has never been one of my virtues.

I am working with the local hardware store . They have a optical scanner , and I have colour match training from my body shop days a century ago . I am a little rusty at it but we will get there with a rust enamel formula we can all get mixed up.

I had the local NAPA store match some power yellow paint a few years ago. When I picked it up I found the paint was about the same price as going to the Case dealer. :43:

@Harry , even if the price was similar to a Case dealer, the closest dealer to us is about 1.5 hours drive. For us it's worth exploring this option.

With the price of gas . Anything local at twice the price is a bargain !
Was just under $25 :canada: tax in for a quart. What is the case stuff a quart for comparisons??
And it is rust enamel. No primer needed if metal is prepped right .

To put things in perspective, in Canadian dollars, here are the prices for the spray cans and the gallon cans. See how one must buy 6 spray cans at a time, and 2 gallon cans at a time. This from a Case IH dealer which is closer to @Spike188 than Dave and I.

Not a terrible price for the spray cans, at $18.81 CAD a piece. Not so bad for the gallon can either, at $122.19 CAD a piece. It's just really far, and they don't ship.

@DavidBarkey the quart is 34.24 CAD.

I think I’ll stick to the Zesty Orange from Canadian Tire. IF, I ever paint another tractor.
