How a 4016 and RM60 Deck found its way to Ontario

Post by Spike188 »

In March of 2017 the 4016 was offered for sale about an hour from us. The owner was doing commercial snow removal and was buying a John Deere as a replacement. He had purchased the Ingersoll from a brother-in-law in Michigan minus a deck.

This is the $700 package.
A hunt began for a deck. In April 2017 @Jancoe posted on CCI that he was selling a working RM60. He had just purchased a tractor that needed a bit of work.

Or should we say a lot of work. He parted the tractor and I bought the deck.

Evan is 6 hours from us. To make the trip worth while a search on Michigan's Craigslist began.

We added a wood chipper to the purchase about an hour into Michigan

And this nice stack of wheel weights at the second stop. The weights and the chipper were separate Craigslist finds.

We will always have fond memories of a weekend in Houghton Lake.

Ouch! Glad the feller and filmer weren't hurt, sad outcome for sure :(

Spike that's a great haul. I do the same now when travelling, never know what deals might pop up!

One day Eugen!

@Spike188 Houghton Lake is a beautiful place. So much I do believe I will spend the rest of my life around it. The story goes as follows. The gentleman was clearing 2 leaning ash trees. His wife the camera man insisted that HER ingersoll be moved out of the way before her husband cut the tree. He said it will be fine and we'll you see what happened. When I showed up to purchase the squashed tractor she made him tell the real story and show me that video. It was all laughs, but she was ripping him and rubbing it in good. They had bought the tractor new and it was her baby. She loved to cut the lawn and plow in the winter. This guy had an amazing VW collection in his garage too. I'm very fond of vintage VW's. Oh, I was able to get that engine going again too. It ran great. That tractor surprisingly had alot of good parts considering the large tree that was dropped on it.ImageImageImageImage

That poor guy, another thing on the list that he will never live down. :wife: I told you to move it.

And for her, I can see where it would be a sad day. I think we all know what it would be like to loose one of our favorite machines. :((
:446cart: let's go, it's finally time to blow. :peace:

@Jancoe will have to answer that question @Harry. That was 5 years ago the weekend after Easter.

Thanks Evan for adding more pictures.

Guys, it was a great story. Especially when she told the real version of what happened with video. They had gotten a new kubota bx2380? with loader. Homeowners insurance covered 80% of the bill for a new one. Something along those lines. I do remember they said they had a hard time finding something comparable since ingersoll is no longer and insurance settled on a nice kubota.

@Jancoe What actually broke under the tractor? Looks like the frame under the steering tower broke? Hard to tell in the pictures. Did the front axle and spindles survive? I assume the rear transaxle survived. Was it the standard rear transaxle or the later model backhoe style transaxle?
