Conclusion
with the 18T gear all I need to do is stay above 3000 RPM underload and will have Auger rpm close to wide open spec and will be in a better torgue
range for the converted Onan genny engine .
Dave
yep, that's the whole point right? have a high speed auger at the rpm engine has highest torque! It'll be different for me with the 14hp kohler which probably has highest torque somewhere between 2200 and 2500 rpm.
If you shoot for 3000 no load and you should be able to maintain 2500 under load . I made my sprocket from a centre and sprocket from PA and weld together .
Next time your over for eggs take a quick look at mine .

Engine pulley about 6.5 “ outside. Hard to measure. It’s an electric pto, so don’t know if that’s different than a manual pto.
Jack shaft pulley is 6.5”.
Small sprocket on other end of Jack shaft is 16 teeth.
Auger sprocket is 74 teeth.

Can you up load a pic. of the pto pulley . I want to see how far the belt ride down in the groove . And a pic. of the auger sprocket so I can see it in relaytion to the auger it self . 74 teeth that big compared to mine at 47 teeth.
Dave
Jumpins. That’s quite a difference is right. Maybe that’s the difference between thrower models. Most of them all look the same. Maybe the auger teeth is the thing. Mine is a K84 I think. But there seems to be 3 or 4 different model numbers.
I’ll get pictures tomorrow Dave. The belt does sit deep in the pto pulley.
Interesting. I get that in a little bit Dave. I’m in the house trying to dry out and warm up from doing the snow clearing this morning. A little over an hour of use on the tractor hour meter this morning.
guys, I doubt it's possible to have 74 teeth. I mean, how can it be 47 for some models, and 74 others? Seems to me the difference is too big. Why would Case make such a big change?

Mechanical clutch PTO belt rides in pulley at 4.5" dia. / 47T auger sprocket
Electric clutch PTO belt rides in at 6" dia. / 74T Auger sprocket to compensate
