222 attachments for a 444

Post by vicv07 »

Good morning. I've been looking for a parts machine for my 444. Someone contacted me and has a 222 with no engine or control valve. But they do have a snow blade, snow blower, and 2x 44" decks. Will all these attachments fit right over to mine?
Thanks

The "What fits" breakdown list these specs.

The 2XX series were standard with H50 blades and J38 deck but could be purchased with 44" or larger decks and blades. The answer is for a proper 4XX fit you will want a J44 or J48 deck. The H50 blade is 44" and the H54 is54". Check out the deck and blade model numbers. They will all mount but width is what you are looking for.

These attachments should fit, most attachments with the snap fast system are interchangeable, the model numbers would help confirm it.

A thought on the snow caster is if it is a 38", it would be narrower than the 444. Wings could be added to cover a wider path.

The decks would need the longer lift links to compensate for the taller tractor.

See if you can get model numbers,

Thank you for the help. I'll go check it out. He's asking for $400 for all of that. If the pieces are in good shape I'd say that's a fair price. The snow blower I would sell I have no interest in that. But definitely would have interest in the blade

If they're in good condition and not needing a ton of work the price is good and you can probably recoup a good part of the price selling the blower. :letmesee:

:107: I know my deck doesn't have any identifying information on it. How to tell the model number of the attachments?

Then it's a guess based on width and other minor clues

Like the other guys said, the issue is the width of the attachments. I jumped on a blade because of the low price and great shape, but didn't pay attention to the size. It was really meant for the 2xx series, it's 48" wide. So if it's straight (perpendicular to the lenght of the tractor) then it's fine on the 4xx, but if it's angled, it no longer is as wide as the tractor. :/

Thanks. Will check it out today. Wish it was a 444 so I could salvage some parts but maybe I'll part it out

Probably the only part that's not interchangeable if the 222 is roughly of same vintage as your 444 is the rear axle assembly. Hydraulic pump too, as they did come in different size shafts.

But,as you get more attachments for the 444 all of a sudden you might get the feeling of having the 222 for some of the attachments and the 444 for others. It happened to me! :D
