I picked up this shredder for $100
All original except the engine is missing . Bearings are still good . According to the serial number it was built in 1972 I have a modern B&S engine to put on it for now , but will put an orginal B&S flat head . when I restore it . I have one on my tiller that I can swap out and run the modern engine on .
Free up one seized hinge . replace couple of worn out springs , install an engine and centrifugal clutch, and I should be shredding vegetation in the garden .
Only thing I had to buy is a clutch for $45. to make it a working unit .
Read the tag on it .

Had the shredder out in the garden . Did ok ,but I could tell the teeth being dull was hampering its performance . It turns out they are reversible. Half a dozen rusty bolts and the top is off . 6 sets of 7 teeth held on by 3/8 unf bolts and crimp nuts .
There is some overall wear on the teeth so I will build them all up with weld this winter ,make a gig and machine all to uniform size and shape again. What looks like the same hammer is available from UK , but pricey buying 42 . About 5-600 $$$
This company Green Shredder make a modern version of what I have .

If you can when you get ready to make the repair id like to see the jig set up you make and the repair. Handy information to have for the fabricobbling that goes on around here!
I took a look at the Green Shredder model. It looks pretty nice but I bet it’s not built as stout as the one you have!
