That is a cool project! I’m really liking the hydraulic dump bed. Unfortunately, or, luckily depending on how you want to look at it I don’t meet any of the specified criteria of time, parts, or money! :D

David I love the idea. I would like one on a larger scale for moving more of what ever you need to move. Thanks for the posting. :highfive: :peace: Harry

I have to wonder though, if you're going to all that trouble why not make the dumper bigger?

It looks like it might have a solid frame. Probably not great on hills and turning?

I think the mid frame grader blade is kinda neat - could be a useful machine if you were maintaining bush trails - load of mulch in the back for whatever you couldn't fix with the grader...

Maybe it can swing up and down. Back is just for weight for more traction.
I like it too. I'm often driving around with a trailer connected, why not make it permanent, I got enough tractors!

I was curious and did the Google Lens thing with @DavidBarkey photos...
The original post seemed to imply it was a 6x4 - I'm guessing the back half of a 2nd machine complete with it's hydraulic motor :hm:

I guess you guys are more observant than myself. I thought it was a dump trailer. Reminds me of one I seen years ago on another site. GT with a bench seat and a bed like a pickup bed in the back, but no dump. It would be a terrific project. :peace: Harry

Case 222 4x6 - $700
a2.jpg
a1.jpg
Built this years ago for our property up north. It's been stored in a shed since I've owned it but doesn't get much use. Started as a 222. I added the second axle, power dump box & grader blade. Great for around the farm, yard or what ever. I used it to grade the trails on our property & haul firewood. 12hp kohler engine runs great. Has a new battery & yes both rear axles drive(4x4). Price is firm as I'm on the fence about selling it anyway. Come take a look & test drive. It could use a little love, but a very cool tractor.

What is now my three-point back blade was originally an underbelly blades on my 442. And that thing was amazing. You can get so much effective down pressure on that blade.

I had just finished it when we had an ice storm. And I was able to peel the frozen ice off of the asphalt on the hill in front of her house to where we our neighbors could leave our neighborhood well before several neighborhoods around us!

I just had it connect to a regular mule bracket in front and connected it to the midlift arms at the back above the blade.

I made one of the mid lift connector arms out of a turnbuckle so that the blade could be tilted.

It was a real pain in the butt to install. But it worked great. Whereas the back blade is a cinch to install but not quite as effective in use.

Someone a few years back built a larger trailer while keeping the same drive axle concept. So, that means it is different from this one as it is a trailer.

My memory of it is that the trailer was of course a dump trailer. That is an easy addition when you have a hydraulic tractor. I think it was 4-5 feet long and the width was about 6 inches past the tires on each side.

I do not remember if it had stake side rails but, that would certainly be nice.

I do remember the purpose was to haul wood.

It really should be articulated. A rigid frame for the rear wheeled dumper somehow offends my sensibility. :hm: :giggle: :violin:

Thanks Bob, that's a gem! The seat at the back though! Priceless. I wonder how many hydraulic pumps the tractor's running..

I think I would take the rear fenders off and extend dump box all the way over the 222's rear wheels. You can sit in box to drive.

Also, why did he have the dump pivot so far from rear. He could have pivot right at rear and dump from height. Where the pivot is is good for manual dumping, but that cylinder could probably lift 4 ton.

It probably has individual wheel motors and the wheel timing based on the steering input.

I'll bet it practically spins in place like a skidloader.

ahahahaha! You're right Harry, my mistake! I thought it was a real seat attached to the tractor, but it's actually behind the tractor. My eyes tricked me.

Gerry, thanks for posting. That reminds me of a track vehicle back in my youth. If I remember correctly it was a jeep body with a tractor ag tire stretched over the tires. It was steered by handles that locked either side lije a zero turn machine. I wish I would have taken a pic but I can still see it in my mind. :peace: Harry

Some of the group comments were cringe worthy :109: - the OP is just starting his project and I think this was just a visual proof of concept for him.

Other posts in the group have mounted prefab atv style track assemblies on the rear wheels - that could be something to explore if you had the budget 😜

Like a lot of sites there can be some nasty comments . Some like mine were meant to be funny . I have got a lot of inspiration from others putting stuff together out of what ever they had on hand . I have personally built ,rebuilt, scrapped and tried again until got a working product .
It is said that you learn more from failure than successes . Based on that , I think I am go for a PHD (piled higher and deeper) in creative tractor accessory building .

Impressive for sure . I envision a 3 cylinder diesel, rad and battery in the middle , fuel and hydraulic tank in the front , driver in the rear for weight distribution . 3 x 200 series axles plumbed in series and locked in low gear .
Lets see , I have a 3 cylinder Perkins , varial output pump , 1 x 200 axle . Thats a start .
:cuss: :headbash: enough of that , already got to many unfinished projects . :dizzy:

@MattA that's a very impressive build. Shaft driven snow blower... wow :O ! I wonder if this means this is a tractor dedicated to clearing snow. Because I can't see how a mower deck would be driven. Unless the deck is hydraulic?

@FUTZ that's a neat build too. I wonder how they solve the problem of running two hydraulic axles in series, with only one pump.

So many talented people out there... :worship:

I had the pleasure of driving the tractor at that show with the powered dump cart attached. Dan's fabrication skills are unmatched. I know he posted the tractor for sale on Craigslist several times, I wonder if he still has it?

After watching the video, I think I was at the same show but a different year as he doesn't have the cart attached.

Hi group, first time I met Dan I was looking to buy a snow caster, seen a ad on cl, jumped right at it, went to his house about 8 - 9:00 pm so it was dark out, he opened his lit up garage and it looked like case heaven in there, I was amazed at all the case parts he had. and he was still tweaking on this machine, and i just happened to go by 1 of his rental properties while he was using this to clear snow a couple years later it was quit cool to see it in action.

Watch for the finger from the operator when you get in the way! :dizzy:

At least on big scrapers the operators seat swivels so you can sit sideways and watch the bowl as it is filling up, I don't know how people feel about rear mounted PTO snowblowers, I think I'd get a wicked crick in my neck looking over my shoulder all the time while driving backwards to blow snow... :))

Thats exactly why I built the new 446 Blower tractor with front blower . The loader is too handy to take off so for a few years ran the rear hydra blower , but my back/neck just can't take all the looking back . So now I have both front mount on one and rear mount on Frankie with the loader .

On various forums, you hear this all the time. As soon as someone mentions a rear mount blower, others say it's a bad idea due to next/back issues. I get it, but it shouldn't de-rate rear mounts. When I was a teenager, I worked at a farm, not too much field work, mostly yard work, hooking up feed wagons, or scrapers etc. I'd say 50% of the time I was looking backwards. If it wasn't me, it was one of the old boys. They never complained. I think it keeps your body more flexible. Farm work in general does that. I could see if you were using a tractor for contract snow blowing; 10-12 hrs of looking backwards you'd want something different. But snow blowing shouldn't be more than 2hrs; if it does you need a bigger blower.

Having said that, I've been thinking of setting up the tractor so I could sit either forward or backwards.

All you guys talking about kinks in your necks makes me want to build a tractor with a blower on the rear but also turn the seat and steering wheel around. Now, no more kinks in your neck. Problem solved? @Spike188 how is your neck feeling this winter?
