My other tractors are...

MM G1000 vista.jpg
Dad and his 3 brothers farmed as a partnership until they retired in the 90's. In 1965 they bought a G1000 which spent most of it's working hours on a Gehl silage chopper. The chopper had a habit of breaking knife bolts which in turn would break the tractor PTO shaft inside the transmission. The second time this happened was in 1967. With silage season in full swing the 1965 was traded for a 1967 G1000 Vista. To seal the deal, the dealer gave all of the Slagell sons a 1/16th scale model, 13 to be exact. The G1000 Vista was the first in my scale tractor collection.
Dads tractors.jpg
When M and myself closed our business and moved north our office display cabinets were move to mom and dads for tractor display. We left all of the collection of tractors behind and Dad continued to add to it. My dad was extremely attached to the display. When part of the display was moved out of the house 15 years ago Dad took it very hard. I vowed not to remove my part until dad had passed.

Fast forward 33 years since we moved north and the time came to deal with the collection. Everything pictured on the floor and sofa are mine to deal with. I was told that dad had given his grandkids their pick of his tractors. Most of the grandkids had no memory of which they had picked. Going through the original boxes I found dad had written who that tractor was given too. It was exciting to see the grandkids reaction to picking up their boxed tractor last week.

Eugene a Great Story, and an outstanding collection of tractors. You know your dad was smiling while all this was going on.
So Happy they are finally home!

@Propane57 I moved them home after 33 years at Mom and Dads. My plan is to sell off most of them while they are boxed and easy to get to. It is bitter sweet thinking about down sizing. There are several White 2-155's, a Ford TW, IH 1466, and an Allis 7045 in the collection that are models of some of the last tractors that dad's brothers purchased. I will probably keep those.

I spent a day making a list and photo catalogue of the tractors making selling a little easer.

#17 IH 1456 Slagell Brothers had 2 1466 IH. The first one had an add on cab with sound padding over the shifting console hiding the gear range. Dad rolled it on a hill when pulling an implement up a long steep grade. He had the tractor in a gear to high. The engine died and the tractor lost brakes, steering, and hydrostat. He managed to back part of the way down hill before losing it.
