Thought I’d share some pictures from today. I hooked up the 39 M to brush hog this morning with the plan of mowing the pastures.
These are all true statements, but how much do they help this time of year? Not much really. Of course the real reason to mow is because I like to see clean fields in the winter. And how could I pass up seat time on great old tractors on a beautiful early fall day!
With that job done I thought, why stop now!
So I got the 41 M out and hooked up the disc.
I ran over the garden knocking down all the old vegetation and grass that took over.
That’s it for the garden for this year. Now it can lay for awhile. Then I’ll plow it under before winter.
Today was a really nice chance to run the old stuff!
My wife always asks the same question this time of year. “ Why do you need to mow this stuff off now?” I point out the benefits like; Any time you can mow weeds out that’s a good thing.
And with the dry weather we’re having getting some hay on the ground is good for the field, it helps hold moisture.
And this time of year the grass is seeded out so by mowing it we’re naturally reseeding the ground. Playing…I mean working with the other tractors

Getting seat time on two beautiful tractors on a dry, sunny, and warm October 1st sounds to me like the definition of a very nice day! Good on you Jeff!
