There were things I needed to do that none of my Case GTs were able to accomplish, so I started to look for a machine with a loader. My patience and budget were not compatible with getting a 646, plust I needed certain heavy objects lifted higher than the 646 could do. A Massey Harris 33 came up for sale locally; it had a trip manure bucket loader mounted. Went to see it, and literally got a little scared, by the sheer size. It's the high arch version, with big rear wheels. Others said it's a small tractor, but I was used to the size of the 220. Told the guy it's too big for me and left, we don't leave on a farm or acreage; when I got home my wife says "since when something big scares you, will it do what need it to do?" That's how amazing my wife is. So I called the guy, done deal. Did I say it was a really good price?
It had all kinds of issues, leaky sediment bowl, manifold missing a large piece, and more. Addressed the very obvious problems, and have used it for the odd task that nothing else I had could do. For instance I had a boat to scrap, and wanted to keep the 3L Mercruiser engine. Lifted it up from the boat (while the boat was still on the trailer) without a problem.
I also used it to carry a huge stump into the brush. Needless to say, I love my MH33. Still want a 646, or a loader on one of the 446s.

I know exactly what you mean Eugen. I have a 646 and a 644lbh. Sometimes a bigger machine is what you really need, or you'll end up breaking the one your trying to use.

my Massey Harris 33! Crooked teeth and all!

The crooked teeth show character.
They are some amazing machines. The hours of work those little tractors did in their life and to still be going strong. They don't build them like they use to rings true.

Tim, I got it because I needed a loader for some specific things I needed to do, intending to sell it after. I no longer need it, yet I can't let go of it. That growl when it runs, and my older boy just can't get enough of the "big tractor" as he calls it. Also I'm a sucker for vintage stuff and it runs really well. I did put some serious time and parts in it though.

I'm glad I'm not into them, don't need any more projects, but I still think they are cool. That's my father's hobby, fixing/rebuilding them, not collecting. Old Fords and Fergusons are his specialty, but he'll work on just about anything. He has one restored Ford 600 to play with. His brother still has the 1948 8n my grandfather bought new. It's been well taken care of and could still work for days on end.

Re: My Massey Harris 33 with FEL
I have a 1951 TEA20 Ferguson tractor. Bought it in NB, Canada about 7 years ago. Was used to garden tractors, son and I were sacred to death of this thing at the first, so much bigger. My thought was, many people were killed by the tractor driving over them when they were standing beside the tractor starting it, and it not in neutral. So schooled son about that. Any way, we got over all that and it’s fine now. We have a two sod Plow, 7’ rear blade, saw bench, splitter, 6’ rear discharge finish mower and 6’ rear pull behind V snow blower for the Ferguson. Did the engine a few years ago and got all the parts from a fella in Ontario that deals in used tractor parts as well as new. Old tractor runs great.
