Don’t see one of these every day.

Post by propane1 »

Sittin at Tim Hortons parking lot and this pulls in beside me.
1954. Was owned a veterinarian in Montaque, PE.

Right hand drive. Each side of the car has these black strips.
What are they for ? I have the answer. I’m wondering if Eugen knows.

Well I didn’t know this, until the owner showed me. There are handles inside the car and when you want to make a turn you pull the handle for the direction you are going to go, the black strip flips out and has an orange colour on them. Turn signals. Kinda neat I thought. That’s what they used in Europe for turn signals then, the fella told me.
I thought you might have knowen Eugen.

My dad called them semaphores. He was into British sports cars. The coolest ones had lights on the ends that lit up when you raised them.
