What a difference a day makes

Post by DavidBarkey »

Yesterday way to hot , today threats of saver thunderstorms . At least you can breath again . I feel I have become way to sensitive to the weather . At least we are not getting the extreame weather and fires some places are . Crap I feel for those people , some are flood out , others cooking in the heat . :109:

Looks like we’re going to copy your weather pattern a bit. It been so hot and stuffy you can hardly stand it, now a large part of our area is under a flash flood warning with a prediction of 6 inches of rain coming over night! Sure some crazy weather this year. But I’ll deal with it, as you said I couldn’t imagine being in a fire zone. That must be just horrible.

Well pretty amazing. Almost 12” of rain has come down since midnight. Supposed to keep raining most of the day. Broke a 100 year rainfall record. The worst of it has been to our south. I’ll have to check our gauge when I get home tonight and see where we are at. If you happen to be traveling avoid East Central / North Missouri! Most of the roads are closed.

Quite an interesting day. You know you need to pay attention when you start out with this.

We were very fortunate to be on the northern edge of the storm. We had 3 1/2”, a couple of limbs down and a washed out driveway. Easy stuff to handle. My job took me into the harder hit areas with 8” to 12”. At one point every interstate highway in the region was closed. What a mess, a lot of roads closed, cars flooded, and houses with water in them. Living where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers come together we do get major flooding that can last for months sometimes. Luckily this will be a 24 hour event. Unfortunately a-lot of people that aren’t affected by river flooding got hit by this one. I took a couple of pictures on the way back north.

that last picture is a sod farm.

We needed rain but dang! Glad it wasn’t worse.

:O :109: @JSinMO What a mess. After see that I will be careful for what I wish for when needing rain . We are fortunate where we are is higher ground , but there is a lot of low lying areas surrounding us where our neighbours would be flooded out if got a rain like that .
