Son got me this for Xmas last year and just getting around to putting it in. Just a foolish gadget, but has an hour meter, that I like, helps reminded you to do the service at what ever hours you want. Has an rpm meter, can be a little usefull, maybe and a temperature meter. Sort of interested in that because this gadget is going on my Case 224. I just kinda want to see what the hydraulic fluid temperature is. Like I said , just a fun gadget.
Have to get son to set up the settings I want. That’s out of my league doing that. He does that stuff at his work at the Ford dealer.
I made one mistake, so far, it is always on, so may make the battery dead. Son said to hook it to the key switch, I didn’t think of that when it hooked direct to the battery. So, I’ll see if I can change that today. :D

Nice! They're useful, these little devices. Yours seems a little more multifunctional than the one I installed

Mine doesn't show temperature. Very nice job installing it!

A little better test. Idle is up a bit after running for 0.4 of an hour. Which is good. A little low when cold. Temperature is good. One thing about the temperature is. As I get use to where it sorta runs at, if my oil cooler starts to plug up with grass or what ever I’ll see the temperature rise. And hopefully know to check it. :giggle: :giggle:

Used the Case 224 to cut the grass today. Took about 45 minutes, rpm was 2600 while cutting, temperature of oil was 109F. Today was sunny and 12C (56F) about.
She’s working good. :please:

Looks good. 2600rpms seems a bit low for mowing the lawn. My vanguard runs 3600. My aftermarket tach has different settings for different engine types.

It will go up more than that Matt. That’s just where I chose to run it. Normally I run it at 2750 or so. That’s it’s happy place.
Tractor is a bit slower at those rpm’s, so it’s easier to control where I’m going.
Less noise too. And it cuts fine. Lots of power too, right at the highest torque range at those rpm's. Always showing charge on the amp gauge, with the daytime running light on. :giggle: No sign of the motor overheating. And less fuel consumption.
You know guys, you don’t need full throttle operation to cut your grass if your doing it every 5 to 7 days. There’s no load there. My 8hp mower riding mower, I only use at 3/4 throttle or less. New tractors for households are running 22 to 25 hp twin cylinder motors. All kinds of power. No need for full throttle. If you have not cut the grass for 2 weeks, there’s more load. So you have to speed up a bit. If your into a hay field, we’ll then you need full throttle, to cool the engine because of that load. Just my thinking, will not be the same as yours.

Jumpins, a mowing and engine speed ramble. Coffees good this morning. :D
