It's an uninformed guess on my part, but I think 32.4 ft-lb is not correct. Could also be a case of sour grapes on my part

I suspect the 18 and 20 HP Onan would have the same torque but at higher RPM.

The formula relating these quantities is: HP = Torque * RPM / 5252

Therefore RPM = HP * 5252 / Torque

So the B43E 31.5 ft-lb at 16 * 5252 / 31.5 = 2668 RPM
The B43G at 3001 RPM.
And the B48G gets 31.8 ft-lb at 3303 RPM !!!

Can you imagine having that torque at 3303 RPM, translated to the auger?!!!

Oh man, and I really wanted to be happy with just the 14HP Kohler!!!!!


P.S. Take this with a grain of salt though. Max torque is (almost) never at max HP. Still, the fact that these increasingly larger HP engines have almost the same max torque I think it's an indication that it happens at a higher RPM.

So by that chart it looks like the different #'s we are seeing are for maximum (intermittent use) and continuous use.

So Eugen, you have a good working 14 engine, so another option is to change your gearing on the thrower. It works. That's what you do in muscle cars to get a better time at the drag strip. Change the differential gears.

And when all else fails a scoop shovel.

I have a 4118 that I am always having problems with the wiring and the safety switches.

I have just started to have issues with the neutral safety switch, have to wiggle the travel lever to get it to start sometimes. Not looking forward to what is to come. But I guess with 1300 hours....
